SALT LAKE CITY — Police have released the name of a man killed in a motorcycle crash in Salt Lake City Thursday afternoon.
George W. Jessop, 70, of Salt Lake City, died when his motorcycle hit a car on state Route 201, throwing him from the motorcycle, according to the Utah Highway Patrol. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Jessop had come upon slowing traffic near the intersection of I-215 West and tried to avoid hitting other vehicles, Utah Highway Patrol said. However, after he moved from the center lane to the left lane, he struck a slow-moving Volkswagen. He was not wearing a helmet at the time, according to Utah Highway Patrol.
