ORLANDO — Real Salt Lake’s start on the road at Orlando was about as good as can be expected.

The finish?

Not so much.

Yoshi Yotun had a goal and an assist, and Orlando City rallied from a 1-0 halftime deficit to topple Real Salt Lake 3-1 Sunday afternoon at Orlando City Stadium.

"You look at last year, we put teams away in the second half," RSL coach Mike Petke told broadcaster Brian Dunseth after the match. "We took our chances and we finished them. Right now, we aren’t finishing our chances. We created a ton today."

Real Salt Lake (3-5-1) had much of the early advantage, but — just like a week ago in a loss at Vancouver — the visitors couldn’t capitalize on their early chances.

Corey Baird scored the second goal of his rookie season, chipping Orlando goalkeeper Joe Bendik in the 13th minute after Damir Kreilach set him up with a ball that sailed over the City defense.

Orlando out-shot the visitors 6-4, but Real Salt Lake was lethal with three shots on target and Nick Rimando made one first-half save to keep RSL ahead at the break.

"You look at last year, we put teams away in the second half," Petke said. "We took our chances and we finished them. Right now, we aren’t finishing our chances. We created a ton today."

Much like a week ago in a 2-0 loss at Vancouver, Real Salt Lake had chances early — Albert Rusnak struck off the post and Jefferson Savarino had a cracker saved by Bendik. But the visitors couldn’t capitalize beyond Baird’s early goal.

And then Orlando came back.

"They converted their chances and we didn't," RSL defender Justen Glad said after the match. "I thought it was another good game by us in terms of our movement and creating opportunities.

"At the end of the day, they just put them away."

Dom Dwyer equalized in the 60th minute, heading home a goal into the far corner past Rimando after Sacha Klejstan.

Just three minutes later, Orlando's Lamine Sane rose up like a salmon to head home Yoshi Yotun’s corner kick and extend Orlando’s club-record winning run to six-straight with a 2-1 advantage.

Yotun added a third goal for Orlando, burying a shot in the 78th minute to turn a halftime deficit into its first multi-goal win since April 13.

"The same thing happened in Vancouver last week. We played good, but couldn’t finish," Glad said. "That will come with time, as long as we keep putting these performances together.

"The goals will come."

Familiar faces

Chris Schuler started his first game for Orlando City. The 30-year-old center back played four seasons for Real Salt Lake, but injuries have derailed his career of late. He played just 21 matches over his final three seasons in Salt Lake City while struggling with knee injuries, and he signed a one-year contract with a club option March 2, 2018 with Orlando.

Former RSL midfielder Will Johnson started the match at right back, and RSL Academy product Donny Toia was a reserve for Orlando, which is led by former RSL striker and head coach Jason Kreis.

Real Salt Lake returns home Saturday to face D.C. United, its only home match sandwiched between four road trips. The game, which will kick off at 7 p.m. MT, will be streamed on KSL.com and the KSL TV app.
