NEW DELHI, Sep 1, 2006 (UPI via COMTEX) -- India's lower house of parliament, given its recent history, seems wise to offer a revised edition of its "Unparliamentary Expressions" at a discount.

The Lower House, also known as the Lok Sabha, where parliamentary decorum is often ignored with unparliamentary yelling often drowning out the pleas of the speaker, is offering its "revised, updated and enlarged edition" at a 25 percent discount, the Kolkata Standard reports.

Half the book is in English and the other half in local Indian languages. Under the unparliamentary category "liar," the book lists how the word has been used both in India and abroad, including "bloody liar," "unmitigated liar," and even "little liar."

Other "no-no's" are expressions like, "It has more curves than Marilyn Monroe," to describe a stretch of road. Also uncalled for is, "A mad person has called me mad."

If "shut up" is unparliamentary, so is "Please shut up." Similarly, "You fascists, sit down" cannot be replaced with "You Nazis, sit down, you Hitlers."

The book's preface says: "It is hoped that the parliamentarians, research scholars and all those interested in parliamentary studies will find it useful."
