ALPINE — A crash on Timpanogos Highway killed a woman and seriously injured two other people Monday night.

The woman is identified as Patty Nielson, 79, of Alpine, according to Lone Peak police detective Dave Ventrano.

The crash happened just before 10 p.m. near 11000 North and 5300 West.

The driver of a car tried to turn left in front of a pickup truck, according to Lone Peak Police Sgt. Charlie Thurston. The truck hit the car, killing Nielson, who was a passenger.

The drivers of both vehicles were taken to a local hospital with moderate to severe — but not life-threatening — injuries.
