1. West side residents, environment groups sound alarm over inland port bill

Community council representatives, environmental groups and the Utah League of Women Voters voiced their concerns Sunday over a legislative proposal to create an Inland Port Authority to oversee development in Salt Lake City's northwest quadrant.

2. 188 crashes reported along Wasatch Front as snowstorm affects driving conditions

There were 135 crashes in Salt Lake and Utah counties from midnight Saturday to 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Utah Highway Patrol officials reported. Another 40 crashes took place in Davis County during that time frame, and there were 13 in Weber County.

3. Storm dumps heavy snow on Salt Lake City overnight

A powerful winter storm produced heavy snow along the Wasatch Front Sunday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

About 10.5 inches had fallen in Salt Lake City as of 11 a.m. Snowfall was varied in the Salt Lake Valley on Sunday, from less than an inch in Herriman to 15 inches in the Olympus Cove area on the east side of the valley, according to the weather service.

4. Utah joins lawsuit against federal government over Obamacare

Attorney General Sean Reyes announced Utah’s part in the lawsuit against the federal government, which challenges the constitutionality of the Affordable Care Act, in an emailed statement.

5. Police arrest man after 1 dead, 2 injured in South Salt Lake shooting

Police arrested a 20-year-old man in connection with an early-morning shooting Saturday in South Salt Lake that resulted in one person dead and two others injured.

1. BYU shakes off slow start, holds off San Diego to open WCC Tournament

Elijah Bryant poured in 27 points, including three 3-pointers, to help the third-seeded BYU men’s basketball team shake off a slow start and hold off sixth-seeded San Diego 85-79 Saturday in the first game of the West Coast Conference tournament at Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.

2. Utah beats Colorado, clinches No. 3 seed in Pac-12 tourney

Opponents are aware by now how much damage Justin Bibbins can do on the perimeter. Stopping the senior guard is not a simple task.

Bibbins delivered in crunch time for Utah, once again, by burying multiple critical long-distance baskets. It helped the Utes survive a sluggish second half in their 64-54 victory over Colorado on Saturday.

3. Utah State tops UNLV 79-67 for No. 7 seed to MWC tourney

Koby McEwen scored 18 points and Sam Merrill scored 15 and Utah State defeated UNLV 79-67 on Saturday night to secure the seventh seed in next week's Mountain West Conference Tournament.

4. UVU knocks off Seattle, earns 2-seed in WAC Tournament

Conner Toolson had a game-high 17 points and graduate transfer Kenneth Ogbe had 13 to lead the Wolverines to an impressive 73-47 win over Seattle on Saturday night.

5. Unblemished Olympus wins second 5A title in 4 years

With an impeccable record of 27-0, the Olympus Titans achieved perfection, earning their second 5A boys state championship in four years with a 76-49 win over Corner Canyon Saturday at the Huntsman Center.
