LOS ANGELES (AP) — Colombian midfielder Eduard Atuesta has signed with the MLS expansion Los Angeles Football Club.
LAFC announced the deal Tuesday.
LAFC used targeted allocation money to acquire the 20-year-old Atuesta, who has played in 44 games for Independiente Medellin since April 2016. He also captained Colombia's Under-20 team at the South American Championship last year.
LAFC general manager John Thorrington says he thinks Atuesta can have "an immediate impact" on the expansion club, which plays its inaugural game Sunday at Seattle.
The club still has a third designated player slot open alongside Mexican forward Carlos Vela and Uruguayan youngster Diego Rossi.
