SEATTLE (AP) — A man in his 30s was in critical condition Thursday and undergoing surgery after a shuttle van struck a downtown Seattle building, hospital officials said.
Two women, 28 and 39, and a 52-year-old man were in satisfactory condition, Harborview Medical Center spokeswoman Barbara Clements said.
Authorities say it appears the driver had a medical emergency and lost control of the vehicle just before noon. He sustained minor injuries.
The Shuttle jumped a sidewalk and struck a Gap store. The express van carries passengers throughout the metro area.
The vehicle did not accelerate and there was "nothing obvious to make this an intentional act or deliberate," Assistant Police Chief Marc Garth Green said.
Seattle police were investigating.
Another patient initially reported as connected to the crash was, in fact, not involved, Clements said.
