HEBER — A 26-year-old man was arrested after crashing his pickup truck and then leading police officers and sheriff’s deputies on a pursuit Saturday night, police said.
Authorities received multiple calls Saturday night from witnesses reporting a pickup truck that had crashed through a fence and into a utility box in the Wheeler Park, according to a Facebook post from the Heber City Police Department.
The driver, who police identified as Caleb Mecham, then dislodged the car and led Heber City police officers and Wasatch County sheriff’s deputies on a pursuit. During the chase, Mecham crashed the car numerous times before he was unable to drive it any further, police said.
Details about how long the pursuit lasted or what Mecham crashed into during the chase were not immediately available.
Mecham was taken into custody and booked on suspicion of felony fleeing, driving under the influence, obstruction of justice and leaving the scene of an accident, police said.
Police confirmed no one was injured during the incident.
