SALT LAKE CITY — Logan police identified a man who died Saturday after being involved in a car crash one block away from Logan Regional Hospital.

The department identified the man as Luis A. Vital, 25, from Wendell, Idaho, Logan police officials said on Twitter Sunday evening.

Vital was driving a Chevrolet Traverse east on 1400 North at about 4 p.m. Saturday, when an 18-year-old woman in a Mini Cooper was waiting to turn south at a traffic light 200 East, according to Logan Police Chief Gary Jensen.

As the light turned yellow, the woman turned left and Vital's vehicle slammed into it.

Vital was transported to the hospital in critical condition and later died from his injuries. A woman and three children were in the car with Vital and were also taken to the hospital for treatment.

A 2-year-old who was a passenger in the vehicle Vital was driving was airlifted to another hospital in serious condition.

Police said an update on the condition of the others involved in the crash was not available Sunday.

Investigators are still looking into who was at fault in the crash.
