Rorie, Akoh help Montana handle UC Riverside in 77-61 win

MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) — Ahmaad Rorie scored 22 points and Jamar Akoh scored 17 point and collected 12 rebounds and Montana controlled UC Riverside from the start with a 77-61 win on Sunday.

Despite shooting 5 of 18 from 3-point range (28 percent), Montana (6-4) was 19 for 30 inside the arc and held a 40-23 rebounding advantage against the Highlanders. Michael Oguine added 12 points for the Grizzlies.

Montana built a 9-0 lead and never trailed. DJ Sylvester's jumper brought the Highlanders within 18-13 with 8:40 before halftime, but Montana outscored UC Riverside 15-8 before intermission.

After the break, Bobby Moorehead buried a 3, converted a 3-point play off a layup and Oguine had a pair of free throws and the lead was 41-23.

Sylvester led UC Riverside (3-7) with 18 points and Brandon Rosser finished with 13. Sylvester and Rosser were a combined 9-for-12 shooting from the field while the rest of the Highlanders were 11 of 40.
