SALT LAKE CITY — Police on Saturday identified a man who died Friday afternoon after a retaining wall collapsed on him while he was in a trench.

Unified Police Department officials reported on Twitter the victim was Vicente Santoyo, 42, of Salt Lake City.

Santoyo was partially buried and hit by heavy equipment while working in a trench near 2791 Ksel Drive at about 2 p.m. Friday.

“Our deepest condolences to his family who flew in from Chicago,” UPD said on Twitter.
