The case has been continued until next week.

Police charged Bowden with child abuse after police found the girl emaciated. She weighed only 12 to 13 pounds.

The girl was left in Bowden's care while her mother was serving in Iraq.

Jade is in the hospital and her family says she is improving and has gained some weight.

The Army has given her mother a 15-day leave, but she hopes to get that extended.
