STANSBURY PARK, Tooele County — Eastbound I-80 reopened Wednesday morning after a traffic accident closed it for about an hour, causing heavy delays.

Both lanes of I-80 were closed at the state Route 201 ramps around 7 a.m., according to KSL Traffic Center. Multiple crashes and slide-off accidents were reported in the area, including at least four separate incidents in a half mile stretch.

As of 7:45 a.m., traffic was passing single file on the right shoulder of the highway and delays were backed up into Stansbury Park. Utah Department of Transportation officials tweeted that the roadway was cleared and reopened around 8:30 a.m.

Details about what caused the accidents or if there were any injuries were not immediately available.

Additional accidents caused delays on other Utah roadways as well, making a mess for commuters across the state. A multi-vehicle crash on southbound I-15 temporarily closed all lanes except for the HOV lane, KSL Traffic Center reported. Five vehicles blocked the four center lanes and traffic was at a standstill from Draper into Utah County during the morning commute.
