Weatherington hits late 3s, helps Hartford beat Sacred Heart

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — J.R. Lynch had 21 points and six rebounds, Travis Weatherington made four 3-pointers and scored 18 points, and Hartford beat Sacred Heart 86-72 on Monday night.

Sacred Heart pulled within 10 points with 1:46 remaining in the game but Weatherington made two 3-pointers 33 seconds apart to extend Hartford's lead to 84-68.

Jason Dunne added three 3-pointers and 17 points for Hartford (5-6). John Carroll had 12 points and Hassan Attia seven blocks.

Hartford led 34-33 at halftime and scored 11 of the first 15 points of the second half to push its advantage to eight points. Dunne had 11 points in the half and Carroll added 10.

Joseph Lopez had 22 points and 11 rebounds for his fifth double-double for Sacred Heart (5-6). Mario Matasovic added 16 points and six boards, and Sean Hoehn 12 points.
