5-year-old Herriman boy found unconscious in bathtub dies

SALT LAKE CITY — A 5-year-old boy found unconscious in a bathtub in Herriman Thursday has died, officials confirmed Saturday.

Unified police said via Twitter the boy died around 2 a.m. at Primary Children’s Hospital.

At around 6:30 p.m. Thursday, the boy’s father found him unconscious in the tub and called 911. He told police the child was left unattended for just a few minutes.

The child was flown to Primary’s Children Hospital in critical condition.

Police said Thursday they believed this was an accident and the incident was under investigation. No further details were immediately available.
