BRIGHAM CITY, Utah (AP) -- Utah Food Bank Services says it is helping 20 percent to 30 percent more people than it used to as the economy continues to struggle.

Utah Food Bank Services provides supplies for 85 food banks and pantries and more than 140 other organizations, such as shelters and after-school programs.

Jim Pugh, executive director of Utah Food Bank Services, says people have been great about donating food and money, but it just doesn't last as long as it used to.

In the food bank's first quarter, it received 4.4 million pounds of food, but distributed 5.6 million pounds.
