PAROWAN, Iron County — Police arrested a man and woman after finding the couple in a stolen car and pursuing them in a chase that reached 120 mph along I-15 early Monday morning, according to Iron County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Nik Johnson.

Tatiana Chavez, 24, of West Valley, and Gabriel Lopez, 33, of Murray, were driving a stolen Lincoln MKS around 2 a.m. when police located the vehicle heading south on I-15, 40 miles north of Parowan, Johnson said.

Police tried to pull the vehicle over, but Chavez and Lopez drove off with police in pursuit. The chase reached over 120 mph before the couple finally turned off the freeway just north of Parowan and the vehicle went off the road.

Chavez and Lopez then fled on foot. A Utah Highway Patrol K-9 was able to locate the couple a half-mile from the car. Both were taken into custody and booked into the Iron County Jail in connection with possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of a firearm by a restricted person, possession of controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to stop at the command of an officer.
