OREM, Utah (AP) -- Rep. John Dougall is proposing an $88 million tuition credit to subsidize students' higher education and keep them in state after graduation.
The Highland Republican says his bill would allow students to deduct off their income tax the cost of tuition and mandatory fees.
Dougall presented his bill to the Utah state Board of Regents Friday.
Dougall says his goal is to help students pay for their school, but not to give parents a tax break.
The bill would only apply to students of Utah's public schools.
