PARK CITY — Police are investigating a possible homicide after a 29-year-old woman was found dead inside a hotel room early Thursday morning.
Police responded to a report of a “suspicious circumstance” at the Park Regency Hotel, located at 1710 Prospector Ave just before 1:30 a.m., according to Park City Police Cpt. Phil Kirk.
An officer was flagged down by someone reporting they needed help and the hotel also called to report "some kind of ruckus going on in the room," Park City Police Chief Wade Carpenter added.
When officers reached the room on the third floor of the hotel, they found a woman dead on the hotel bed, Carpenter said. The woman’s name was not immediately released. Carpenter said the woman was from out of town.
Police were investigating a trail of blood visible outside the hotel and areas outside of the hotel for any potential evidence. Officers were also roaming around the parking lot and other areas with metal detectors searching for any possible weapons, Carpenter said.
Two people were checked into the room for the night. A man checked into the room was being interviewed by police, Carpenter added.
Kirk said police do not believe the public is in any danger. He said anyone that may have any information is encouraged to call Park City Police at 435-615-5500.
Multiple agencies were dispatched to the scene to help Park City police in the investigation, including state, county and agencies from Salt Lake County.
"Anytime we have a major incident, we use other agencies for crime scene process to make sure when we vet these we're getting all the information," Carpenter said. "The more eyes we have on this, the better chance we have at solving it."
