SALT LAKE CITY — One man is dead and two police officers were injured after a Thursday afternoon shooting at a Maverik station, according to Salt Lake City police.

The incident took place around 4 p.m. in the parking lot of the Maverik at 300 S. 508 East. The two police officers involved were transported to a hospital in serious, but stable condition, according to Salt Lake City police Det. Robert Ungricht.

Officers responded to a trespassing call and a fight ensued, Ungricht said. The trespassing suspect is the man who died at the scene, he said.

Ungricht said he did not know if the man who died had a weapon.

The intersection at 300 South and 500 East was completely shut down, with traffic blocked in all directions.

The West Valley City Police Department had been called to investigate the shooting.
