Workers have officially begun the process of moving Odd Fellows Hall, a classic downtown Salt Lake building.

The building now sits 11 feet off the ground on a series of lumber stacks. Fifty-six dual-wheel transport dollies are being moved into place atop a series of east-west oriented transport tracks. The placement of the dollies will take about a week to complete.

The building's new location will be between The New Yorker and The Melting Pot restaurants near 360 S. West Temple.

The Layton Construction Co. said relocating the building will break the Guinness Book of World Record for moving the world's heaviest building. The Odd Fellows Hall weighs 5 million pounds.

The process will be finished by January.
