SPANISH FORK, Utah (AP) -- A Pleasant Grove man already behind bars is now facing more trouble.

Authorities say yesterday a sheriff's deputy found a bag of heroin in the man's Utah County Jail cell.

Deputies say a routine shakedown uncovered a small amount of brown substance, which later tested positive for heroin, underneath the man's mattress.

The 23-year-old man was three days into a five-day jail stay on unrelated charges. Deputies say the man told them he purchased and swallowed four balloons of heroin before reporting to jail. The man then apparently told officers he vomited the balloons up after being placed in his holding cell, and hid them in his underwear.

The man is facing charges of first-degree possession of heroin in a secure facility and possession of drug paraphernalia.
