The Midvale Community Building Community’s dental program serves uninsured low income families, immigrants and refugees by providing dental services and oral health education. These families do not have access to affordable dental care and often delay dental treatment due to the cost of services. All patients scheduled for dental work receive dental hygiene and extensive oral health education to prevent gum disease. Patients are encouraged to have at least two dental hygiene appointments per year. The Mobile Dental Program works in coordination with the clinic to do patient follow up. The solution to prevent dental problems is simple: Brush, floss, dental hygiene twice a year, and yearly checkups. By applying these simple oral hygiene procedures individuals can keep all their teeth for life. Midvale Community Building Community takes the services outside the clinic setting to community centers, schools, and other gathering places offering dental services and providing oral hygiene education. Their goal is to do one outreach clinic per month. SelectHealth recognizes the preventive care provided by the Midvale Community Building Community as another example of how Utah Gives Back.
