WEST VALLEY CITY — A man accused of kidnapping a 16-year-old girl who had to jump out of a moving vehicle to escape has been arrested.
Oscar Dennis Aguilar, 23, was arrested for investigation of kidnapping and intoxication.
Early Sunday morning, a 16-year-old girl was getting a ride home from Aguilar. The two had just been at the same party in West Jordan, according to a Salt Lake County Jail report.
But once she got in the car, Aguilar started driving in the opposite direction of the girl's house and toward his own house west of the airport, the report states. The girl asked Aguilar several times to take her home or just let her out, according to the report.
"The male continued driving for a lengthy period of time and refused to allow the victim to get out of his truck," according to West Valley police. "Aguilar drove the female around the valley and back out on U-111."
When Aguilar slowed down to make a turn, the girl opened the door and jumped out of the moving truck, the report states, "and hid in the ditch."
Police were called to the area and found Aguilar's vehicle. When officers talked to him, he was "very hostile and aggressive," the report states. He also seemed very intoxicated and "did not seem to remember the conversations we had or the questions he asked because he kept repeating himself," officers wrote in the report.
It was not known Tuesday what Aguilar intended to do with the girl.
