SANDY, Utah--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug 22, 2017--With online professional learning opportunities, K-12 educators have access to more professional development (PD) content than ever before. Most PD offered at the state and district level, however, is not associated with graduate-level credits. With new additions to the Premium Library, which is seamlessly integrated into the Performance MattersProfessional Development solution, school districts and state departments of education can give educators the opportunity to enroll in PD courses and earn graduate credit at a fraction of the cost of many online universities — all within their current PD management system.

As part of a new partnership with Literacy Solutions, Performance Matters will offer more than 30 online graduate-level courses each semester through its Premium Library, which allows educators to easily search and register for courses and track their course completion and credits earned. A 15-hour, one-credit graduate course will cost $340 and a three-credit course will cost $640. After completing a course, educators can choose to receive a certificate of completion from Literacy Solutions, and a transcript from its partner, Adams State University.

“Keeping highly qualified teachers is important to every school district. With the Premium Library, districts can now offer teachers a convenient, cost-effective way to earn graduate credit, especially when compared to courses at other online universities, which can cost upwards of $1,995 for a three-credit course,” said Susan Ruckdeschel, founder and CEO of Literacy Solutions .

“Taking courses for graduate credit also makes online learning even more appealing to educators because, in addition to meeting credentialing requirements, the same hours can often qualify for in-service credits and salary increases,” said Jeanette Haren, chief product officer and co-founder of Performance Matters. “It’s a win-win for states, districts, and educators alike.”
