(KSL News) A bit of history is resurfacing at an elementary school in Salt Lake.

Brothers Phil and Stephen Snow fought to save the old East High School building and the old Uintah Elementary School building. They lost both battles but were able to salvage some history.

"It's the sign that was above the front entrance to the Uintah school for probably 80 years. It's spelled wrong because the school has an 'h' at the end," Phil said.

The old Uintah School was at the corner of 1500 East and 1300 South for decades, but was torn down to make way for a new school.

The Snow brothers bought the old sign for $200, 20 years ago. They're donating it to the Utah Heritage Foundation and hope it will end up somewhere on the new campus.

The Snows like the new Uintah Elementary and say they were able to meet with the architects and help assure that the new school would fit in with the old neighborhood.
