SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A record-setting heat wave is passing through parts of Utah for several days.
The National Weather Service announced that the temperature at the Salt Lake City Airport reached 105 degrees on Wednesday, surpassing the 104 record set in 1973.
Temperatures in Salt Lake City are expected to hit or pass 103 degrees on Thursday, which could challenge a record set in 2007. The National Weather Service has announced a heat advisory for the entire Salt Lake Valley.
Temperatures in the area are expected to be in the high 90s over the weekend.
In St. George, temperatures stayed below 117- and 115-degree records on Wednesday and Thursday.
The southwest Utah region could get a break from the heat with isolated showers and thunderstorms predicted for Friday.
