Local parades, festivals and celebrations happening throughout July

SALT LAKE CITY — The peak of Utah's summer is full of celebrations with both Independence Day and Pioneer Day falling in the month of July.

Celebrations for the whole family are taking place across the state this month. Whether honoring pioneers, one's heritage or just enjoying the weather, there's enough going on for everyone to be satisfied.

Here are some events taking place this month:

July 1 - 4: Colonial Heritage Festival

The ninth annual Colonial Heritage Festival will take place from 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. at SCERA Park, 600 S. State in Orem. The event is free to the public and will feature a stone Declaration of Independence, the first printed copy of the declaration, showings of “National Treasure,” artifacts from George Washington, Alexander Hamilton, Joseph Smith Jr., Emma Hale Smith and many other historical artifacts. All events are free to the public and donations are welcome.

July 5 - 8: Farmington Festival Days

Activities for kids and adults alike are featured for free at various locations in Farmington. Activities include basketball, tennis, vendor booths, ice cream, breakfast, concerts, fireworks and more. Event details can be found online.

July 6 - 8: Dinosaur Roundup Rodeo

This event features top cowboys and cowgirls from the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association. It takes place at 7:30 p.m. each night at the Western Park Arena at 302 E. 200 South in Vernal. Tickets range from $6 - $18 and can be purchased online.

July 6 - 15: American Fork Steel Days

Events are free and include a nightly carnival, quilt shows, a baby contest, garden tours, concerts, car shows, dances, fireworks and much more. All events, times and locations can be found on the city website.

July 6 - 15: Draper Days

Celebrations taking place in Draper include a rodeo, children's parade, free concerts, fireworks and more. Events are free to the public and a list of locations and details can be found on the city website.

July 7 - 8: Payson Scottish Festival

This annual event presents food, entertainment, athletics, dancers, piping and drumming, among other Scottish traditions. The event goes from 5 - 9 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. The event is located at Memorial Park, 300 S. Main in Payson. Admission is free.

July 8: Lavendar Days 5K Race

The Young Living farm in Mona is celebrating its annual lavender harvest with a 5,000-meter race and a 1,000-meter family fun trot. A cash prize totals to $1,000. Registration runs from July 3 - 8 and costs $25 for the 5K and $7 for the 1K. The Young Living Lavender Farm is located at 3700 N. Highway 91 in Mona. The event runs from 8 a.m. - 9 p.m.

July 8 and 29: Open Horse Show

The Panorama Horse Show Circuit is hosting its fifth and sixth open show of the season. The event runs from 9 a.m. - 8 p.m. and is located at 995 W. 1000 South in Mt. Pleasant. Tickets to the event can be purchased online.

July 10 - 24: Fairview City Pioneer Day Celebration

An ATV rodeo, softball and golf tournaments, fireworks, parades and much more are taking place throughout Fairview City on these days. Leftover tickets are being sold on the 11, 12 and 19 at the city office from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. The full list of events is listed on the website.

July 15: Spanish Fork Fiesta Days

Live entertainment, fireworks and endless amounts of food will be available at the Spanish Fork Fiesta Day from 7 - 10:30 p.m. at Spanish Fork Sports Park, 295 W. Volunteer Dr. Food trucks will be on-site starting at 6 p.m.

July 13 - 24: Pioneer Days of '47

Pioneer heritage is being celebrated through concerts, hikes, festivals, rodeos, parades and more during these days. Tickets and details on each event can be found online.

July 14 - 15: Fountain Green Lamb Days

The city celebration will include family-friendly activities including a craft fair, flag ceremony, fireworks, lamb sale, “Lab Days Got Talent,” watermelon-eating contest and more. Events are free and take place at the Fountain Green City Park.

July 21 - 22: Bountiful Handcart Days

A grand parade, activities in the park, arts and crafts exhibition, chuck wagon breakfast, historical tours, fireworks and races are just some of the activities taking place these two days. All activities are free to the public. Details on the events can be found online.

July 21 - 22: Cottonwood Heights’ Butlerville Days celebration

This event will include food, fun, competitions, chalk art, a carnival and more during these two days, as well as the annual Butlerville Days parade. Fireworks will be lit Saturday evening, marking the end of the event. Details and a full list of events are found online.

July 24: Dixie Celebration Parade

This free event is part of the Days of '47 celebrations and begins with a flag ceremony at 7 a.m. The event includes a parade, rides for kids, horse-drawn wagon tours, paintballing, food and more. The event begins at 300 N. 300 East and will wrap up around 2 p.m.

July 29 - Aug. 5: Highland Fling Ruby Jubilee

Highland is celebrating its past and future during the Ruby Jubilee with events including disc golf, a baby contest, parade, rodeo and more. It will also include a celebration of the city's 40th anniversary. The full list of events and details are online.

July 31 - Aug. 5: Wasatch County Fair

Contests, a rodeo, exhibits, parties and fireworks will all be available at the Wasatch County Fair, located at 415 S. Southfield Road in Heber. Contests include Battle of the Bands, a hula hoop contest, a talent find and a baby contest. Registration to participate can be done online.

Tickets are needed for the demolition derby, rodeos and lamb jackpot stalls and can be purchased online.

July 31 - Aug. 5: World Folkfest

The World Folkfest will be celebrating cultures through dancing all throughout Utah County. Performing groups come from Austria, Indonesia, Chile, Nepal, Georgia and more to perform traditional dances. Tickets can be purchased online and range from $5 - $30.
