SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Mammoth are heading to the Stanley Cup playoffs for the first time in franchise history.

It's a major milestone for the young team — and one fans say they've been waiting for.

After Thursday night's 4-1 win over Nashville, the Mammoth officially clinched their spot in the postseason. And on Friday, inside the team store at the Delta Center, fans were picking up playoff gear and talking about what comes next.

"You want this so bad for those guys; they deserve it," said fan Dan Walker. "What a day, what a time to be a Mammoth fan. We're spoiled rotten."

"NHL playoff hockey is like no other, so I'm really, really excited," said fan Brenna Walker. "Let's go all the way — let's get the Stanley Cup."

The Utah Mammoth are just the third team in the last 45 years to reach the playoffs within their first two seasons in the league.

The Mammoth play the Carolina Hurricanes Saturday at 3 p.m.

The Stanley Cup playoffs begin Saturday, April 18, at the Delta Center.
