This is Fred Ball for Zions Bank, speaking on business.
Like many college-age youth, Derek White found himself uninterested in his chosen field of study. Although he applied himself to his finance classes, he couldn't feel satisfied with the career path he was on.
During this same period of time Derek worked with his father, Ron White, who is a certified general appraiser, and discovered that he enjoyed walking through residential properties which also helped him become more familiar with the valley. He found himself leaning on the idea of becoming an appraiser himself and going into business with his father. In June 2007, Derek's vision came to pass as he and Ron opened Millcreek Appraisal together.
Millcreek Appraisal offers a full line of residential appraisal work. While the business is based in Salt Lake City, it serves clients in Utah, Tooele, Weber and Davis counties. In addition to appraisals, the firm occasionally does consulting for law offices and real estate investors.
With the downturn the mortgage market has taken in the last few months, Derek says people have become increasingly skeptical about either purchasing or refinancing a loan. Many loan programs have changed, and along with these changes, Millcreek Appraisal has expanded their services to better meet clients' needs. Some of these services include providing valuations for tax purposes, estate planning and private mortgage insurance removal. Both Derek and Ron are also approved by the Federal Housing Authority.
Derek and Ron do their best to provide competitively-priced, reliable appraisals in a timely manner. For many clients the appraisal must be complete before they can secure financing and close on their home. While some appraisers may take as long as a week, Derek and his father can complete appraisals in one or two days.
Expansion is a distinct possibility for Millcreek Appraisal, but Derek wants to keep the firm small enough to maintain the personal relationships he has with his clients.
For Zions Bank, I'm Fred Ball. I'm speaking on business.
