RIVERDALE — A woman accused of locking her two children in the trunk of her car while she went shopping is facing child abuse charges.
Tori Lee Castillo, 39, of Ogden, was charged May 31 in Riverdale Justice Court with two counts of child abuse, a class B misdemeanor. She is to be arraigned Tuesday.
On May 25, police say Castillo put her two children, ages 2 and 5, into her car trunk while she went into Wal-Mart. The children made noises and moved frantically, causing the car to shake and witnesses to call for help.
The good Samaritans instructed the 5-year-old girl to pull the emergency latch in the trunk to escape.
