Read KSL's Take here West Valley City, Utah - The San Jose Sharks defeated the Los Angeles Kings 3-1 Sunday night at the E-Center before 8,881 fans in NHL preseason hockey. The game was the final contest for both teams before the regular season starts. San Jose jumped up just 54 seconds into the game on a Joe Pavelski goal. Los Angeles tied it early in the second before the Sharks countered with two goals in 53 seconds late in the second to complete the scoring.
Evgeni Nabokov stopped 25 of 26 shots for San Jose picking up the win.
Professional hockey in Utah continues Tuesday when the Utah Grizzlies of the ECHL open training camp at the Acord Ice Center at 10 a.m.
The Grizzlies open the 2008-2009 season Saturday, October 18 at Idaho. The home opening weekend for Utah is Friday and Saturday, October 24 and 25 versus Alaska at the E-Center.
