WEST JORDAN — A man is in critical but stable condition after he was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds outside a home near the Jordan Landing business area Wednesday morning, police said.

Emergency crews responded to a report of the gunshot victim outside of a house near 3800 West 7800 South, according to West Jordan Police Sgt. Joe Monson. He said police were searching for a possible suspect.

Monson said the man was transported to a local hospital in critical but stable condition. He was shot multiple times in the torso.

Investigators were unsure where the shooting happened Wednesday morning.

"It's just so early in the investigation, we're just trying to figure out what's going on at this time," he said.

Monson added police were interviewing witnesses and had an officer at the hospital trying to get more information from the shooting victim.

West Jordan police tweeted Wednesday afternoon that it located a Dodge Magnum it believes was involved in the shooting and a person of interest was located. Police were still looking for one other person who may have been involved in the shooting.

Terra Linda Elementary and Columbia Elementary School, which are both located near where the man was found, was placed on lockout because of the shooting but classes were continuing as normal, Jordan School District officials said.
