BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Authorities say a wounded black bear attacked and injured an Idaho hunter, who was able to shoot the animal after the two tumbled down a hill. Evin Oneale of the Idaho Department of Fish and Game said in a statement Monday that the bear bit 43-year-old Marvin Jennings of Boise multiple times on an arm and leg. He was flown to a hospital, where he's recovering.

RITZVILLE, Wash. (AP) — A mother was killed after her son fell asleep at the wheel along U.S. Highway 395 in Adams County. The Spokesman-Review reports (http://bit.ly/2s7Maig) that Jaciel Parra Medina was driving south of Ritzville at about 5 a.m.

RICHLAND, Wash. (AP) — The 2017 Pacific Northwest sweet cherry crop is forecast at 22.7 million, but it could easily exceed the 23.2 million-box record set in 2014. Capital Press reports (http://bit.ly/2rQlUIp ) that's according to growers at the Five State Cherry Commission meeting.

AMERICAN FALLS, Idaho (AP) — A father is dead but his son survived after their boat hit a rock in the Snake River. The Idaho State Journal reports (http://bit.ly/2qsAQQP ) that the Power County Sheriff's Office identified the deceased as 79-year-old Willard Cranney of Burley.
