(KSL News) Utah's Girl Scouts helped their neighbors on this rainy Saturday. The second annual "Give Back Utah" event provided scouts in the Salt Lake Valley the chance to serve their community.

Girl Scouts help community during 'Give Back Utah' event

Volunteers said helping groups like the Salt Lake International Refugee Center was more fun than the usual Saturday morning cartoons.

Madison Richmond explained, "We're making blankets for young children that are cold and less fortunate."

Scouts also made heat therapy rice bags for the Huntsman Cancer Institute and collected reading glasses. A local scout will deliver those glasses later to a third-world country.
