SALT LAKE CITY — Police are looking for two men they say smashed a woman’s driver side window and held a knife to her throat before taking her purse early Wednesday morning.
A report of the robbery was called in just before 1:20 a.m., according to Salt Lake police detective Robert Ungricht.
Ungricht said a woman was stopped for a black four-door pickup truck making a U-turn near 710 N. Riverside Drive when the pickup crashed into the front of the woman’s vehicle.
Two men then exited the pickup truck. One of the men shattered the driver’s side window of the woman’s window and put a knife to her throat while the other took the woman’s purse, Ungricht said.
The two men then drove off in the pickup. The man who the woman alleged put a knife to her throat was described as a black male approximately 20 years old with a slim build and wearing a black beanie cap, Ungricht said. The other individual was described as an adult male.
Ungricht said the pickup was a newer model with a lift kit on it. The pickup, he said, likely has front-end damage to it. He added that police don’t know if the truck was stolen or owned by someone.
The woman wasn’t injured in the incident.

Ungricht said he hasn’t seen many cases like it during his time with the department and described it as an isolated incident.
“We’re hoping we don’t see any more of these pop up,” he said. “Hopefully this isn’t a new trend we’re going to see. I don’t think it is.”
