There's a major battle for minutes brewing at the Jazz training camp in Boise. There is a healthy competition to play alongside Deron Williams at the two-guard spot.

Training camp is just two days old, but one of the big questions is which player will start at shooting guard. Jerry Sloan has four quality players to choose from on one of the most talented teams in Jazz history.

Former Jazz shooting guard Jeff Hornacek says the Jazz have a great team. "They have guys at every position," he says and that includes a stacked roster at shooting guard.

Third year guard Ronnie Brewer earned the starting role last year. When asked if it is his job to lose, Brewer said, "Definitely. We have to get better every day. Defending first and let the offense come and if I do that I should be ok."

Brewer is one of the most athletic players on the team. He is a good defender and averaged 12 points per game. Kyle Korver is a better shooter and scored 10 per game coming off the bench last season after arriving in December.

"I don't think we need to make it into a competition. We have several guys who can play the two, says Korver. "We have everything covered. So it's exciting."

C.J. Miles is excited to compete again this season after signing a 4-year, $15 million contract.

"Hopefully we can get each other minutes. I know it's hard. I went through it last year. I know how it feels. We'll just keep working at it and pushing each other," says Miles.

Second year man Morris Almond is hoping to stay up with the Jazz and out of the D-League. He played just 39 minutes in nine games with the Jazz last season.

He says, "That's why we come here to compete and that's what training camp is for and a new start for everybody."

All four say with the group they have the position should be solid.
