TAYLORSVILLE — A pedestrian died after a truck hit him early Thursday morning in Taylorsville, police said.
The 41-year-old man was walking in the middle of the road at 5400 S. Ridgecrest Drive (3400 West) around 2 a.m. when a pickup truck eastbound on 5400 South hit him, according to Unified police Lt. Manfred Lassig.
The driver stopped to help and was present when emergency crews arrived, Lassig said. First responders performed CPR, but the man died on scene.
Investigators are trying to determine why the man was walking in the road.
"There's no crosswalk there. There's no intersection where the accident occurred. Why the individual was out in the road, that's one issue that's going to be there," Lassig said.
The pedestrian's name has not been released, pending notification of family.
