DETROIT (AP) — Matt Donlan scored 24 points, Braun Hartfield scored 22 and Jorden Kaufman had 15 points and 11 rebounds to lead Youngstown State past Cleveland State 84-69 in the opening round of the Horizon League Tournament Friday night.

Youngstown State (12-20) moved on to face top seed Oakland on Saturday.

The Penguins blitzed Cleveland State (9-22) with a 17-4 run in the final 4:09 and the Vikings shot just 1 for 9 from the floor.

Youngstown State led 37-33 at intermission, and Terrell Hales' layup for the Vikings tied the score at 43 with 16:41 left. Donlan and Rob Edwards traded 3s and the Penguins led 67-65 with just more than four minutes to go before their deciding run.

Cameron Morse added 12 points for Youngstown State and Francisco Santiago chipped in 10.

Edwards led Cleveland State with 27 points and Bobby Word and Kenny Carpenter each scored 10.
