Campbell leads Southern Miss past North Texas, 76-53

DENTON, Texas (AP) — Quinton Campbell put up 24 points and pulled down 13 rebounds as Southern Miss completed a season sweep of North Texas with a 76-53 Conference USA victory Saturday afternoon.

With one game remaining, the regular-season finale at Louisiana Tech, Southern Miss has clinched a spot in the 12-team Conference USA tournament, which begins March 8, as the No. 12 seed.

Southern Miss (9-20, 6-11), bouncing back from a heart-breaking loss at Rice in overtime Thursday night, built a 17-point lead by halftime.

Campbell hit 10 of 13 shots from the field, including 2 of 3 from distance, and grabbed 10 rebounds off the defensive glass. Michael Ramey hit 6 of 12 from beyond the arc and added 19 points and Eddie Davis III added 17 points off the bench.

Derail Green and A.J. Lawson each scored 17 points and Lawson grabbed 10 rebounds to lead North Texas (8-20, 2-14).
