Paul Nelson reporting The Movie "Snakes On A Plane" opens today. There will be plenty of the slithery animals on display at the Jordan Commons Theater.
The snakes in this movie may make a few people more afraid of snakes than before. But, the Utah Reptile Rescue Service will have plenty of the real animals on display so people can see how they really act. Founder James Dix says snakes don't normally attack without reason.
James Dix: "Snakes don't go out of their way to bite you unless they've been abused, and they're hungry and looking for food. Or, if they see movement like your hand moving, and they mistake your hand for food."
As far as snakes being on planes, Dix says it happens all the time. Matter of fact, it's going to happen again soon.
James Dix: "We have one that's coming in next week... a 15-foot Burmese."
So, if you're flying next week, try not to smell like a rabbit.
