SALT LAKE CITY — The FBI is offering a $10,000 reward for the arrest and conviction of a serial bank robber now suspected of committing a robbery at a Draper credit union last month.

Nicknamed the “Barrel Chested Bandit,” the man is wanted in connection with eight bank robberies in Texas, New Mexico and Arizona. However, the FBI Salt Lake City Division now believes the man might be connected to a robbery at the America First Credit Union on 13866 S. Bangerter Parkway in Draper on Jan. 12, according to authorities.

According to the FBI, the man is white, in his mid-40s to early 50s and 5 feet 6 inches to 6 feet tall. He is approximately 250 pounds with a large build and has gray hair. He has worn a baseball cap in all of the robberies and sunglasses in most of the heists.

In each case, the man produced a small handgun and has left with an undisclosed amount of money, according to the FBI.

The other federal cases are similar to the robbery in Draper last month, where a man produced a gun and left with an undisclosed amount of money before driving off in a white hatchback.

Anyone who might have any information about the robber is encouraged to contact their local FBI Office (801-579-6400 for the Salt Lake office). Tips can also be submitted online at tips.fbi.gov.
