Sam Penrod ReportingA couple of grass fires are burning this afternoon in Utah County. One of them destroyed a brand new shed.
Some sparks from construction led to a grass fire in Mapleton. It spread over a hill and through some trees, reaching a shed under construction. The shed is a total loss. Fire investigators believe the fire is completely accidental.
There was some concern about homes near the shed, but firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading to the homes.
About 2:30 this afternoon there was another fire in Provo, near LaVell Edwards Stadium. It was a small grass fire that burned about 1/3 acre, but caused concern because it was close to some buildings and homes.
Firefighters quickly got that fire under control.
