(KSL News) A man charged with kidnapping in Utah County missed his day in court. However his co-defendant was there, most likely because of Congressman Chris Cannon.
Sione Afu's attorney says he failed to appear at his scheduled court hearing yesterday morning. His co-defendant, Sifa Pulu, did attend after Congressman Cannon, who is a family friend, told the judge two weeks ago he would take financial responsibility if Pulu failed to show.
Prosecutors say Afu and Pulu kidnapped and threatened to kill a Provo woman last month after she sold them bad drugs.
