French journalist, screenwriter, author and anglophile Bernand Rapp died Thursday from a "long illness", aged 61, France 2 television announced at the start of its evening news report.
The former London foreign correspondent later presented the news in France as well as several cultural programmes before moving on to a career in cinema.
He wrote several screenplays, including "Une affaire de gout" ("A Question of Taste") in 2000, for which he won the grand prix at the Cognac crime film festival. He also won three national French television awards.
Rapp also wrote several books including an inventory of mythical objects from the British empire.
