SALT LAKE CITY — Winter weather conditions prompted closure or delayed start at some schools along the Wasatch Front Tuesday.

All schools in the Park City School District were closed for the day, making it the first snow day for the district in 15 years, a spokesman said. Park City has received 17 inches of new snow from the latest winter storm, according to onthesnow.com.

In the Canyons School District, all schools ran on a two-hour delayed start, and employees of the district were asked to arrive when they can do so safely. Morning preschool and kindergarten classes were canceled.

Nebo School District also delayed the start of school by two hours.

In the Provo School District, classes began at their normally scheduled times. However, the district encouraged parents to do what they felt best for their student.

Numerous crashes and slide-offs made the morning commute treacherous in areas, which had the Utah Highway Patrol urging drivers to slow down.

Another big winter storm is expected to hit northern Utah late Tuesday night, continuing through Thursday. Visit the KSL Weather Center for the latest updates.
