30 ROCK — Everyone needs an ugly Christmas sweater to wear to holiday parties, and who better to receive one from than Jimmy Fallon.
When Utah woman Rylee Fautin visited The Tonight Show Monday night, little did she know that she was about to be the lucky winner of Fallon's traditional "12 Days of Christmas Sweaters" contest.
Fautin's New York trip was a Christmas present from her mom, and she'd been planning it since August. But it wasn't until two weeks ago that she found out she had made it past the waiting list and would be able to sit front row at The Tonight Show with her cousin and two sisters.
During each show leading up to Christmas, The Tonight Show has been giving away a Christmas sweater to a random audience member. When it came time for the tradition during Monday's show, Fallon pulled a bright red and green sweater out of a box and called seat number 402.
"When Jimmy actually called out the seat number, I was looking around to see who it was and my sisters were like, 'It's you!'" Fautin told KSL.com. "I immediately started screaming."
Yesterday's Have You Seen This?
Fautin was surprised and a bit overwhelmed, but said Fallon was "such a chill guy."
"I grew up in Marysvale, which only has a population of 400 people, so knowing that millions of people would be watching me made me super nervous," she said. "I wore the Christmas sweater the rest of the night, and people kept asking to take pictures with me. I felt like such a celebrity!"
I don't know about you, but this is one of the best Christmas sweaters I've seen, and I would definitely want a picture if I'd run into Fautin after the show that night. One of the best parts of the video is when Fautin tells Fallon that she has several "ugly" Christmas sweaters and he responds, "Well this can be your first one that's not ugly."
Fautin's excitement at winning the sweater will bring a smile to your face. Watch the video, and then pull out your most festive ugly Christmas sweater and wear it all week long.
