STATESBORO, Ga. (AP) — Christian Terrell scored 17 points, including a key 3-pointer late in the second half, and Florida Gulf Coast held off Georgia Southern 85-82 on Sunday to get its fourth straight win.
Terrell was 7 of 14 from the field and the last of his three 3-pointers dropped in with 36 seconds left to help halt a Georgia Southern rally and pad FGCU's lead to 84-77.
FGCU (5-3) hit 61 percent of its 57 shots from the field and led by as many as 17 points before Georgia Southern began chipping away late in the second half, getting a tip-in from Ike Smith with 2:18 left to trim the deficit to 79-76.
Zach Johnson added 16 points for FGCU, which got double-doubles from Antravious Simmons (13 points, 12 rebounds) and Brandon Goodwin (12 points, 10 assists).
Smith led Georgia Southern (4-4) with 23 points, Tooke Brown added 21 and Mike Hughes had 11.
