SALT LAKE CITY — Jim Banks, of Woods Cross, stands on a ladder to put the finishing touches on a Christmas tree as hundreds of others prepare for the annual Festival of Trees at the South Towne Center, 9575 S. State, on Monday.
Every penny raised at the festival goes to help children at Primary Children’s Hospital. Last year, more than $2.3 million was raised from the sale of the trees, wreaths, centerpieces, quilts, gingerbread houses, small gifts and sweets.
At 5 p.m. Tuesday, the more than 800 trees will be auctioned. Tickets for that event are $40 at the door, and the dress is semiformal. Tickets for the festival itself, which runs from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, are $6 for adults, $5 for senior citizens and $3 for children 2 to 11. Credit card purchases are only accepted at the north and south ticket offices. Cash and checks are accepted at all entrances. Discount tickets are available at most Zions Bank branches.
