KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Martez Harrison scored 22 points and UMKC held off Drake down the stretch to take a 68-62 win Tuesday night.

UMKC knocked down 11 of 27 shots from beyond the arc to hold off the Bulldogs, who battled back from an 11-point halftime deficit.

Drake got within four, 54-50, with 5:06 left in the game, but could not close the gap.

Harrison connected on 7 of 9 shots from the field and knocked down 3 of his 5 shots from distance. LaVell Boyd added 18 points by knocking down 3 of his 7 attempts from beyond the arc.

UMKC bounced back from a season-opening loss to No. 22 Creighton Friday, 89-82.

Reed Timmer finished with 15 points to lead Drake (0-2) in its first trip to UMKC and the Bulldogs still lead the series, 5-2. The Bulldogs lost their season opener to South Dakota, 79-74.
